Organizational Communication

Students will study how individuals and groups within an organization communicate to strategically shape business outcomes both internally and externally. This course includes the interpersonal relationships among employees at all levels, and how information flows through formal and informal channels and social networks. Also covered are the communication skills necessary for successful leadership in organizational settings. Students will fine-tune their written, verbal and listening skills, and learn how to communicate effectively to their managers, peers, and subordinates, both individual and among teams. Using various communication tools (face-to-face and virtual), students will learn how to frame impactful messages for different audiences. Techniques to engage and motivate their audiences, such as persuasive presentation and storytelling are provided, and fundamental concepts and guidelines are reinforced through practical assignments, ongoing instructor, peer/self-critique, and team activities.

About This Course

Organizational Communication is a core MBA course and is typically taken as the first or second course in our MBA program. It is also part of our Organizational Intelligence graduate certificate and is often taken as a single course for those who are looking to sharpen their communication and persuasion skills. If you are interested in enrolling in this course, you are encouraged to register and we will follow up to confirm your registration. Tuition per course is $3510 and will be invoiced the first week of class. You will earn three graduate credit hours upon successful completion of this course.

We prefer to offer a face-to face attendance option for our courses; however, we are committed to following CDC and governmental guidelines during the COVID19 crisis. We will return to offering the face-to-face delivery when it is allowed. In the meantime, all of our courses are offered via live video conference or online.
